We cover the sport of CrossFit from all angles. We talk with athletes, coaches and celebrities that compete and surround in the sport of CrossFit at all levels. We also bring you Breaking News, Human Interest Stories and report on the Methodology of CrossFit. We also use the methodology to make ourselves the fittest we can be.
So the question of the day is,
who is the poster child of Yacht Rock?
From the gym to the screen, yeah,
we cover it all.
Midday motivation every time you press
call.
Lunch with the Clydesdale.
Cowboy bring the heat.
CrossFit, boobies, music on repeat.
Half hour hustle, yeah,
we're building that brand.
Grab a plate, tune in now,
you're part of the fam.
It's lunch time.
What's going on?
oh that that interlude is my my resume
to become the poster boy of yacht rock
i mean it's it's it belongs on a
res on the resume and that's what you're
looking to do uh one hundred percent i
get absolutely absolutely um just so you
guys know
We were actually talking about Yacht Rock
for five minutes before we went live.
Like, what in the world?
Why wouldn't you?
This is such a great world to live
in.
Honestly.
I appreciate living in America by spending
at least five minutes a day just
discussing who is the king of Yacht Rock.
And so we asked Vicki.
Vicki's response was Steely Dan.
Which is legit.
Corey came in legit.
He was all on board.
And then I said,
the only thing I can picture about Yacht
Rock is Michael McDonald.
Michael McDonald.
Gosh darn, man.
And he's there.
He's everywhere.
that's the discussion we were having like
you can't you can't there's not six yacht
rocks on like you can pick six yacht
rock songs off a playlist on spotify and
i'll bet michael mcdonald's on four of
them because we were talking like he has
his own stuff he has the doobie brothers
he appeared on christopher cross's album
was also on um oh what is his
the dude's name top gun soundtrack kenny
loggins kenny loggins did yacht rock for a
minute he's on kenny loggins albums like
the dude is everywhere yeah
The funny thing is, one, Fergie,
I've not heard John Sakata in a long
time,
but one of the favorite moments of my
life is when John Sakata was singing at
the World Cup and fell through the stage
and continued to sing.
Didn't miss a beat.
He didn't miss a beat.
His torso is the only thing you can
see, and he just kept on singing.
Oh, my Lord.
Oh, one of my favorite moments ever.
I trained Olive.
I prefer trailer park rock.
Listen, like, I love all kinds of music.
Sure.
Seriously, like,
if you went to my Spotify,
the algorithm just goes, I give up.
Yeah.
But, you know,
occasionally I like a good yacht rock
tune.
I love Christopher Cross.
My wife's wedding song and I is sailing,
so...
There it is.
I saw something the other day.
So he wrote that after one of his
friends took him sailing and he fell in
love with sailing, right?
So I said,
imagine if Christopher Cross's friend had
took him bowling instead.
Bowling, take me away to where I'm going.
Roll the ball.
Get a strike.
Get a strike.
Just saying.
That song could have been way different is
what they're getting at.
Daniel Arnson got his swag.
That's what we're talking about.
Let's go.
So Daniel Arnson and Meg got their shirts
today.
That's awesome.
two things from this one I get an
email every morning from a guy named
Daniel Anderson it is a spam email it's
in my work email address Daniel Anderson
it is so close to Daniel Arnson every
time I see it I'm like what crazy
idea is coming from Daniel Arnson like why
do I have to be reminded every morning
at eight ten a.m of Daniel Arnson by
Daniel Anderson
And why is he giving me...
Why does he have my email address,
for one?
And why is he...
Every time I just see it out of
the corner of my eye, I'm like,
how did Daniel Arnson get in here?
And it surprised me every morning.
Yeah, it would shock me as well.
And the other thing...
I checked the reports on the deliveries.
You know how you talked about you and
your friend ordering the same thing from
the same store on the same day,
and yet the deliveries were a week apart?
Yeah, more or less.
Yeah,
like there is no rhyme or reason as
to what got delivered where and when from
the U.S.
Postal Service.
I still haven't gotten the shirt that
Shanna mailed me.
Well,
Shanna hasn't got the shirt I sent her
So there will be some time-space continuum
between here and Oregon that all mail has
to go through.
Before I like to think I like to
think of the fact that or my imaginary
scenario I made of my head where somebody
is like passing the stuff from one and
like the shirts are crossing each other.
Some sort of timeline.
Somebody's like, Oh,
is that one going to Shanna Buntz?
Yeah.
Okay, this one's from Shanna Buntz.
Cool.
Let's go just go ahead and trade and
we'll get them going in the right
direction.
yeah it's weird it's really weird but i'm
glad that people are getting their shirts
and their stickers hopefully they have not
made them confetti in their jeep like cory
did i did yeah stickers i got most
of them picked up so there's that uh
jeff j birch uh it's lost in space
and only like three of us even get
that reference it's on the pony express
I don't know why they call it Express.
If it's on a pony,
it's not coming real fast.
There's not really anything.
Yeah, Shanna's is on the pony.
Meg's was on a stagecoach.
Danger, Will Robinson.
Danger.
See, someone got it.
Someone got it.
So last night I went to mail another
batch of shirts out.
Had them all in a stack.
Get to the post office.
Throw them in the mail bin.
then we went up to the puppy park
to take my dog let him run and
when we get up to the puppy park
we find one t-shirt bag had slid to
the back seat oh who's that like son
of a oh no and then the road
to the puppy park is closed in the
southbound direction so now i have to loop
out around to get back to the post
office to drop the one bag
crazy that wasn't and it was i believe
amanda fillers amanda's of course it is
amanda fillers yeah of course it is so
i had to go all the way back
around just for but it was because it
was amanda because it was amanda i made
the special trip i sacrificed it all went
back and dropped brought dropped the bag
in the in the mail for her sacrifice
it all
That's another eighties song.
I'm pretty sure it's got something in
there.
Yes.
That was my Mr. Ed voice.
All that stuff used to be on reruns
when I got home from school.
Yeah.
TBS dude, the Brady Bunch, Mr. Ed.
MASH, Happy Days.
Happy Days.
I've seen all that shit because I would
get home and it was on TBS at
my grandparents' house.
So if it was raining out,
that's what I was doing.
my mom was a big western fan one
we got one channel so you only got
whatever was on that channel growing up
that's how old i am and i would
um for a long time the rerun when
i got home from school was gun smoke
oh yeah i've watched so much gun smoke
in my life because we had one channel
even watched it in black and white
Yeah.
Gunsmoke, Little House on the Prairie.
Yeah, dude.
So many episodes.
So many episodes.
All of that.
The Andy Griffith Show.
I can whistle you the theme song right
now if you'd like.
Oh, yeah.
It's not that hard to do.
And who would have known that Opie would
become one of the greatest directors in
the history of movies?
and would put his brother in every movie
he's ever made.
Amanda says Saved by the Bell.
That's a little bit later.
I was a Saved by the Bell addict.
I don't know why.
Kelly Kapowski.
I could tell you why I was.
I was actually more a Elizabeth Berkley,
Jesse Spano.
Jesse Spano.
I will never forget the one where she
got addicted to freaking caffeine pills or
whatever the hell they were.
Yeah.
a very special episode of saved by the
acting chops in that show man not and
now ac slater is trying to sell me
all kinds of on like every third ad
on youtube ac slater pops up and is
trying to sell me stuff it's fantastic
yeah and mark paul gosselaar actually
became a decent actor
yeah if you've not seen the show where
he is locked in the basement and he's
a serial killer oh no i didn't see
that one it was on for two seasons
called found he is freaking awesome that
is fantastic in that show it got cancelled
it shouldn't have um i hate when good
writing and good shows get penalized but
It happens more often than it shouldn't.
Amanda says her bird can whistle the Andy
Griffith song.
That is awesome.
I was skipping back up because of this
right here.
I watched more Sanford and Son.
and i laughed at all of it i
probably didn't understand half of what
was going on dude but like it's the
big oh here we go it's the big
one like red fox was your big dummy
you big dummy i'll never it stuck with
me forever dude they were uh lamont was
was saying something about the bills like
they needed to pay the bill and of
course they was always broke whatever
Fred told him,
put it back in the mailbox.
He said,
put the bill back in the mailbox.
We never got it,
so you ain't got to worry about it.
There it is.
Yes, Lord.
You have to... I have to say,
Sanford & Sons theme song,
greatest television theme song of all
time.
I will...
i'm driving around somewhere and i see a
yard with like just crap just stacked in
it i will immediately it's it's it's a
knee-jerk response at this at this point
start humming it like it just it it
just happens i can't do anything about it
it's the fred saver song
Andrew Sten,
we're just always fighting now.
Terrible writing and found.
The writing was good.
The lead actress sucked as an actor.
The rest of the cast was pretty good.
She was.
She I had to get past it.
I had like mentally get past that because
the storylines were pretty good.
So, yeah, and Trent agrees with me.
Oh, yeah, that was a great show.
Do we want to talk about some CrossFit?
Are we going to dive into any of
that?
Is there anything to talk about?
Did anything happen between yesterday and
today?
We have a few announcements and things.
First of all, the queue, Rogue's queue,
has been announced to qualify for their
invitational.
Usually one of the hardest qualifiers in
the CrossFit space.
With the most stringent standards,
especially when it comes to video and
stuff,
because they are super serious about it.
Better have your scales ready.
And your video camera and your phone wiped
of all memory stuff because it's going to
take you forty five minutes to document
the weight of every plate, every bar,
everything.
And look good on them.
Like not just anybody gets to make it.
Only twenty people go to this event.
It is a very exclusive and high-end event,
and it's that way because they are that
stringent.
Yeah.
And I love it.
I love it.
So we have that coming up August
twenty-first through the twenty-third.
If you are interested in trying to compete
at Rogue, there you go.
WFP announced their roster,
their full roster for Tour Stop Two.
Nope.
Yeah.
Again, we're, we're still at that.
We're still at that.
We're still at that.
We're still at that.
We're still at that.
We're still at that.
We're still at that.
We're still at that.
We're still at that.
We're still at that.
We're still at that.
but it's a pretty decent field.
I mean,
definitely a lot of people at the top.
So there's a men's roster and a women's
roster.
Go ahead and hit the men's real quick.
And you will see that there are click.
Oh, there we go.
Look at that's the people and to fit
them all on the type is so small.
We can't even read them.
But at the top,
you have the signed pros and then all
the people who got in through the
qualifier below and the wild cards.
And they have that for the women as
well.
We don't need to pull them all up,
and I'm not going to sit here and
read them all to you.
They're available out on Instagram for all
of that.
Kyra Milligan is making her debut in the
grid league.
Are you done?
Uh, with the sharks.
So there she is with the Kyra pose.
Where are the sharks?
So they are in Tampa.
I know two people or three people,
actually four people that do really like
personally, but yeah.
And we sponsor an athlete in the grid
league.
Yeah, no, I'd love, I saw Lauren and,
uh,
At Monster Games,
one of my favorite people to run across.
She's one of the four people that I
know.
It's like her, John Young, my boy Taylor,
and Jessica.
So she's going to make that debut as
well.
I want to talk a little bit about
the Mayhem video today.
I saw that it was out.
I need to check it out.
I was watching Lydia this morning on
Savant.
Yeah,
I skipped the Lydia interview and went
with Mayhem and TTT,
which I just want to touch on a
few things from those.
I got sent some stuff last night about
Mayhem and some Reddit stuff about the
Empire collapsing.
And I chalked it up as...
This is Reddit.
This is the cesspool of social media.
It is what it is.
I want to hear from the horse's mouth
if all this is truly happening.
I can't go on Reddit because it gives
me a headache.
and i get irrationally angry after about
four or five posts i'm like y'all are
these people are insane absolutely insane
and then dense posted a clip of angelo
saying he refused to do an interview with
bella so that has added to the speculation
that the empire is collapsing and so
ridiculous like the man's got his own
reasons for doing something that doesn't
mean that the empire is collapsing like
just because they both work there that's
so stupid
Well, and honestly,
I don't know the context around it all.
Like, was he joking?
Was it like,
I don't know what they're cause if you
watch the mayhem podcast, they,
they dog on each other all the time.
It was a short clip.
I don't know what else happened before
that or after that.
i so it's on the uh cf network
it's behind the scenes once the one's
behind the scenes like he seemed pretty
serious at the time because he told one
of the girls on his team like hey
they're doing an interview you can go over
there i'm not going to talk to her
so okay whatever whatever the rest of it
is like the man's got his reasons
That's such a thin straw to grasp at
because, oh, well,
Angelo didn't want to talk to Bella.
They're reporting that there's a mass
exodus of coaches and athletes.
They just did a big post about it.
I haven't seen any evidence,
and I watch a lot of shit.
Haley left.
Okay.
Yeah, okay.
That's not the first time.
FYI.
Um, so anyway,
I was tuning in because I wanted to
know if Angela was going to talk about
the clip,
if they were going to address the Reddit
stuff and they didn't,
they didn't do any of that stuff.
Um,
But a couple things I did learn from
the interview or the podcast was that the
San Jose Sharks gave Sharks jerseys with
names on it to all the podium winners.
Oh, that's cool.
I thought that was a really cool gift
to give to the podium winners.
We'll talk about it.
I have a couple questions.
The Service Cup begins soon.
Yep.
And the live finale will be at Mayhem
again.
cool and our very own carolyn privo won
that last year for the teachers um and
she is still an active educator so hey
uh jay birch i have one second i
gotta looks like might be an important
call i'm gonna take okay no problem uh
jay birch i don't i have not seen
anything about um
Austin leaving.
So, uh,
if he did it's news to me,
and that is not even what was mentioned
in the rumors on Reddit.
So Ortega there's just a,
there's a Reddit sub group talking about
the decline of mayhem and the crumble of
the empire.
But I took it with a grain of
salt because it was Reddit.
So a question I have for everybody is,
during the Mayhem podcast...
Rich made the statement that they
shouldn't give out medals anymore at the
CrossFit Games.
They should give out rings like sports
champions get, like a Super Bowl ring,
World Series ring, things like that,
that he doesn't really care for medals.
He thinks it'd be cooler to have a
ring.
And I just wanted to put it out
to you guys.
What do you think?
Medal or ring?
Which would you rather have if you won
the CrossFit Games?
And the other thing I wanted to put
up,
and it was just a thought that crossed
my mind watching the Mayhem podcast is,
do we need more Guy Mejeros to market
the sport?
And this is what I mean by it.
Do we need more Guy Mejeros to market
the sport?
And I say that because
he is beautiful to watch moving sure like
if i'm not a crossfitter and i see
that man on tv doing a snatch doing
a muscle up doing whatever it i'm gonna
be like who is that and what the
hell are they doing he definitely makes it
looks easy i mean
Every single snatch of the snatch ladder
looked exactly like the one before it.
And every one of the snatches or clean
and jerks looks the same.
Like his movement and his athleticism in
short bursts is beautiful to watch.
Yeah.
I would have a,
I don't see a problem with it,
but I don't, I'm just not a fan.
Well, we're nerds.
This isn't for me.
This isn't for me and you.
This isn't for Vicky.
This isn't for the people in the chat.
It's for people...
It's for people who do not watch the
sport and catch a glimpse and want to
know more.
Yeah, so you're going to...
In my humble opinion, at that point,
you're going to turn him into Danny
Spiegel.
Because...
Danny Spiegel didn't look that good moving
like it.
She looks that good moving depending on
who you are.
Yeah, she does.
But you're talking about like more
attraction and I'm talking about it still
becomes superficial at that point because
look at how good this dude moves.
Look at how good this chick looks while
moving.
Okay.
Counter argument.
How many times did Danny Spiegel finish
top ten at the games?
Nothing as far as I can tell.
How many times has Guy finished top ten
at the games?
Was that twice?
Yeah, at least twice.
Maybe three times.
Yeah, I'd have to look.
Vicky can tell us.
No clue.
No clue.
I understand that,
but the average person doesn't know that
either.
The average person is going to see this
good-looking kid moving really well.
Just like if they had marketed Danny like
that,
they'd have seen this good-looking kid
who, to their eyes,
probably moves pretty well.
They don't know she's not squatting a
parallel.
But Danny's never in the top heat with
the top athletes.
Guy is.
And we dog on Guy because he can't
run.
Right?
Because we're CrossFit nerds.
Because he can't run long.
He's rounded enough.
Yeah.
Right?
He can run.
He just can't run long.
Right.
He has no endurance.
Whatever you want to say.
He has one big fast twitch muscle.
Watching him sprint,
he looked like a track star.
A hundred percent.
And got beat by Ricky.
Okay,
but second place in the world for a
CrossFitter.
Still the first loser.
I'm with Lito.
More Harry Lightfoot.
You guys are so tainted by the narrative
that's out there.
Here's why.
I'm with Lito.
More Harry Lightfoot.
Harry is way more likable.
Harry is way more...
community oriented did he make the games
this year no he did not but he
is a coach first and he'll be the
first one to tell you that like him
making the games last year was a side
quest for all intents and purposes did he
want to sure absolutely do you want to
this year absolutely but he is way more
invested in the actual community and
making people better whereas gee two years
ago three years ago was begging people to
send him a free bike
You guys won't let anything die in this
spirit.
The guy says one thing.
English isn't even his first language,
and we're dogging him about everything.
Like, I am so against the Gee hate.
So against it.
I don't hate him.
Great, great athlete.
Sure.
He won events individually for the world
team.
Mm-hmm.
Because most of them are real quick.
Harry Lightfoot's made the games one time.
Sure.
In what?
Eighteenth?
Nineteenth?
Who's more likable?
I like Guy.
I like Guy.
When he was on the Dave Castro interview,
I thought he was very likable.
Very engaging.
And how many green lizards do you see
in the comments every time Guy shows up
on the screen?
I will give you that.
The Brazilian fans love their people.
that's not just for him that's for any
of the any of the brazilians that that
that show up they are there looking for
them and that's that's just that's the
culture thing because they show up for the
world cup they show up for the copa
america they show up for any tournament
their soccer tournament that brazil is
playing in if you watch brazilians doing
uh mma like you go look at those
kind of fights they are there in whatever
comment section like they show up for
their people so
Yeah, I agree with you on that.
Absolutely.
Jody, I don't hate him,
but he hasn't done anything to endear
himself to me.
OK,
but like every time he's on the floor,
I want to watch because nobody moves as
well as he does.
Like everybody talks about Hobart being
like the perfect mover.
Guy is not far behind.
If he is behind,
like I would put them as the two
best movers in the sport.
At AI,
I was at Waterpalooza and I was getting
out of a porta potty and he was
going in like, dude, I have to poop.
Funny moment with him.
English is not his first language, right?
And we have a bias as Americans that
we want to endear ourselves to our home
athletes.
So I don't know.
We had a couple ring votes too.
We had a couple medal votes for the
championship when you were on your call.
Rich said on his podcast,
he'd rather have a championship ring than
a championship medal.
yeah i could i could see that um
i i would like to present a third
option and that would be the belt yeah
dude i just i like the idea of
the belt take it from wrestling well if
it's a wrestling about i'm for it if
it's the stupid leather weight belt that
doesn't do anything for me no like a
like a real like hold it up hey
come take this championship belt from me
type deal
I think that's a great idea.
You get to keep it,
but going into the next year, like, hey,
James has got the belt.
Who's going to take the belt from him?
I don't hate the belt idea if it's
a cool championship belt.
My wife's in an all-day meeting, FYI,
just in case.
She just texted me and said,
love all-day meetings.
yeah that's the best american
exceptionalism yeah i i just think that
like gee gets a really bad rap yeah
he has top ten finishes he is relevant
I would say he wasn't relevant.
He's definitely relevant.
I mean, he's going to win events.
There's stuff that we know he's going to
take top one or two on.
Before the game started,
everybody knew the snatch event is his to
lose.
The only way he's losing it if he
makes a mistake,
and it better be a big mistake.
The sprint,
everybody was going back and forth.
It's going to either be him or Ricky.
Sure enough, Ricky wins.
He's hot on his heels the entire time,
a hundred percent.
Well,
I want to say this is how much
the Gee slander has been around is when
the sprint was announced,
everybody was like, Ricky wins,
no competition, no question, blah, blah,
blah, blah.
You knew Gee was going to give him
a run.
Yeah, that was fun to watch.
That was great to watch.
That's another thing they said on the
Mayhem podcast was that
The activities on Barack Obama were so
much fun and CrossFit needs to lean more
into that.
Can we talk about the fact that they
never said Boulevard at the end of it?
They just kept saying,
we're running on Barack Obama.
We're pushing above on Barack Obama.
I was like, hey, man,
can we leave Barack alone?
Like,
let's just talk about the street instead.
That's what I'd say.
Every time they said that, like,
we're doing this on Barack Obama.
My twelve year old brain is like picturing
a giant Barack Obama and them doing stuff
on top of him.
Sorry, I know it's a non sequitur,
but that's just where my head that.
And I will admit, like,
all the stuff I went out and watched
on the street,
we'll just say on the street,
was really fun to watch.
Yeah.
i liked it i did the sprint especially
i didn't get to see the uh i
only saw one ending of the the big
bob push but the uh the sprint was
super fun to watch even though and look
it was literally just a bunch of dudes
running in one direction going around the
the uh the pylons for lack of a
better word running the other direction
going back around the pylons and then
coming across the finish line and that was
still fun to watch i enjoyed the out
of that
Well, the running squat clean workout,
I watched from the street.
I watched the run part of it.
I bet that was good.
And it was so fun to watch.
Because out on the street,
the fans are right there.
In the arena,
you were pretty far off the floor.
And even the finish line in the past
has been right at
the stands and this year there was a
big gap between, well, you,
there were four private boxes.
If you had a private box,
you were by the finish line, but the,
but the normal fans were back off quite
a ways.
So when you were out on the street,
the fans were right there.
Yeah, when they,
the false start that wasn't a false start.
I mean,
you could reach out and touch them from
right there.
Like somebody could have grabbed whoever
that was on the end,
like grab the hold of them and not
let him take off if they wanted to.
Like that's, that's cool.
I like that a whole lot because it
feels like you're right there on top of
them.
And even as the couple of events I've
done where you're doing stuff and the
crowd is right there behind you.
That's a cool feeling as a competitor
because it's like, man,
these people are right here.
You can feed off the energy one way
or the other.
I'm a big fan of that.
Can we talk about false starts?
Let's be real here.
Please do.
I don't know if there's a CrossFit event
that doesn't have a false start.
Every single event,
someone is leaning forward before the
beep.
Trying to anticipate it, man.
Trying to get that whole shot.
It is something that as a former swimmer,
like false starts are – and when they
went to one false start and then the
field is – anybody from the field can
be disqualified on the second one.
in track and swimming and all of that
stuff,
like it just annoys the shit out of
me when I see someone leaning forward at
the beginning of an event and the,
the sprint just made it even worse.
Like it was way worse.
That wasn't a lean.
That was like two steps.
That was everybody doing their best
Michael Jackson impression.
Just with the,
that lean forward and get that,
that whole body weight thing going on.
Uh, which honestly,
if you're trying to do a sprint is
probably not the best position to put
yourself in.
Just let me keep leaning forward, forward,
forward, forward.
Cause that's going to throw your weight
balance off completely from trying to
start off and get a hard sprint start.
Yeah.
That's the best Mark Phillips.
So when they lean to get that three,
one thousandths of a second,
and then they jog to the first implement.
Yeah, a hundred percent.
Hey, I'm guilty of it.
I'll tell you that right now.
You'll see, like, we stay on that start,
Matt, and you hear him in ten seconds.
And everybody, like,
I like seeing it when I'm doing,
we're doing interval with the class I
coached this morning,
which we only had one person at five,
one person at six.
But when you're doing interval work and
there's a rest period and I'm coaching the
class,
I love to watch around and everybody's,
they got two minutes of rest.
Everybody's breathing and take a sip of
their water and whatnot.
And you're like, one minute.
And everybody all of a sudden,
they perk up.
And in thirty seconds,
because I'm the world's best alarm clock,
I let everybody know, like,
if you're in my class,
you're going to have plenty of forward
motion,
forward warning before the actual next
thing starts.
Thirty seconds,
and then everybody tenses up.
And at ten seconds,
everybody just leans in.
Whatever they were doing is...
And it's the same thing if you're on
the floor, right?
And they bring us all out there,
you meet your judge, you know, Hey,
let's blah, blah, blah, whatever.
Okay, cool.
This is what I'm doing.
You know, introduce yourself,
all that good stuff.
And everybody's loose.
And as soon as they say, ten seconds,
everybody's on that start mat.
And it doesn't matter what the first thing
is, what the first implement is.
Everybody's leaning it.
Or they're leaning over to grab the bar.
I don't do that.
That's so stupid.
I think that's so stupid.
Like I'm not touching it.
I'm not touching it.
Like your hands are like right here.
Yeah.
I'm not touching it.
I'm not touching it right here.
All right, dude, stand up.
Come on.
Stand up.
That extra like frigging more to say that
extra three thousands of a second is
probably not going to make you win this
thing.
Like, Oh, I, I did it every time,
man.
I started to lean down to the bar.
That's the only thing I was,
if we got,
if I got to run to,
to a thing,
like to the wall or to a billboard
or rings, whatever the case may be.
Yeah.
I'm leaning forward.
But if I just got to go to
the barbell to stand in front of me,
I'm not that guy.
I'll be like, no, three, two, one, go.
I'll reach down and grab it.
It'll be okay.
Well,
you don't have as far to go as
I do.
Facts, facts.
Yeah.
Um,
I listened, Vicky had sent me a timestamp,
but TTT talked about the Masters games.
And the podcast is about the games,
and there's a segment that's about the
Masters games.
And a lot of the things that were
being said by both Perrin and Adam were
what Carolyn and Jamie talked about
exactly.
That it felt like a semifinal event,
not a games event.
But they did make this statement that it
used to be that people looked at the
Masters as a way to get a quick
podium,
and they thought it was a cakewalk once
they went from elite individual to the
Masters, and it's not that anymore.
There's no cakewalk in the Masters.
They were talking about not just like the
Noahs and the Travises and the Carolins.
They were talking about the entire Masters
division has upped its game to a place
where there are no cakewalks in the
Masters division.
And so I loved that they were loving
on them like that.
Yeah,
I would be the first one to tell
you it's not easy to do.
just to make it to an in-person semifinal,
right?
Finish high enough in between the open and
quarterfinals to make it to, you know,
get an invite to an in-person semifinals
is not easy to do.
You have to work your ass off.
And then you get there, I'm telling you,
dude,
I hate to use legends as an example,
not the semifinal,
but the last legends that I did in
twenty five.
First time my wife ever got to see
me really compete in person.
And like before we left, she was like,
get on that podium.
And I was like, hmm.
yeah probably not we're gonna give
everything that we got i said but and
it took uh until about the middle of
the second day and then she didn't even
really talk about it until we were at
dinner on sunday night and she was like
she said i know how hard you work
like i know the sacrifices that you make
all the things that you do she said
but it never dawned on me that everybody
else does too
and like everybody's fast everybody's
doing all these things and whatnot i'm
like yeah dude it's like that throughout
the whole masters community that i've seen
go watch any heat any of them doesn't
matter first heat last heat whatever
whoever whoever's in it and it doesn't
matter what age group there are some
impressive things going on out there super
impressive can you pull up amanda's
comment vicky please
My favorite thing is when someone says,
I can't wait till I get into masters.
LOL.
Yo, it's still so, so hard.
That's what she said.
And it's getting harder.
Yeah, that is.
Yeah.
Give me Martin Phillips right there,
please.
There seems to be a highly capable cohort
moving its way up through the age group.
Seems like fifty five and down are way
more capable than those that came before
him.
Everybody can do all of the things.
Everybody can.
It's not like it was in years past
where you could, well,
I can walk on my hands and these
guys can't.
Well, no,
everybody can walk on their hands now.
And that's the correlation that Perrin and
Adam were making,
that we are treating them like they can't
do all the things.
Yep.
And that's a problem.
Like the people running the masters
competitions are treating the people like
they can't do those things now.
And they can,
they have advanced in their fitness to a
point where they can do the hard things.
Yeah.
And do them well.
Uh, Daniel Arnson,
me getting into masters doesn't matter.
Noah, Dan Bailey, Scott Pancheck,
and so many others are in my division.
noah dan bailey scott panchick travis sam
dancer travis mayor marquand jones bro
marquand is an animal marquand beat travis
man i watched that dude in person at
uh in birmingham and he is an absolute
beast it's ridiculous uh vera says it's
hard imagining when you're thirty eight
how you will feel when you are fifty
you won't be in fifty to fifty four
age group and feel like you did when
you're thirty eight
Facts.
Well, it depends.
Yes and no.
It depends on what your training age is
for one, right?
If you've been,
if you've been in it since you were
twenty six, if you're Scott Pancheck,
yeah, one hundred percent.
You not feel like you did when you
were twenty six.
You probably feel like you lost a couple
of steps even though you are still out
there smashing it.
Same thing for Travis.
Same thing for Noah.
All of those guys,
because they've been doing this shit for
basically twenty years at this point,
right?
Other people.
Myself being one of them,
this is my eighth year or going into
my ninth year of just doing CrossFit,
period,
much less being able to compete at a
high level.
The rare time, like right now,
when I'm getting over actually being
injured is the first time it's ever
actually happened to me because I just
don't have that many hours racked up in
it.
I can bounce back a little bit better
because it's not a nagging something
that's been going on for God only knows
how long.
It's a different type relationship at this
point.
Yeah,
but it was interesting to get the
confirmation that they saw the same things
our girls saw.
Yeah, I like that.
And the fact that they're also putting it
out there so that hopefully the powers
that be can see that kind of stuff
and understand that.
I've also seen evidence of, um,
Becca Voigt is responding to people who
have DM'd her with,
and you can tell that she's read what
they sent.
Yeah.
It's not just a standard.
Right.
Um,
so that's awesome because they need to be
heard.
A hundred percent.
And I have confirmation she listened to
our podcast on Sunday.
Awesome.
So she heard right now, Jamie.
Becca,
if you're listening to us right now,
we love you.
Thank you.
Appreciate you.
And again, if people don't know,
when I was with morning talk,
Becca was my analyst.
I brought her on the show to be
my, so I, I adore that woman.
Um,
and we've been friends for a long time
and her husband's pretty awesome too.
He's like her coach at all the events.
Uh,
uh is the masters was okay i don't
i my spanish is rusty ortega sorry see
the masters steve the masters was not the
greatest is that what i heard probably so
it's probably that because that i know it
was right next to your keyboard yeah
very agree to a point i went to
the games in on a team and i
was the fittest i've ever been in my
life but i also was the most unhealthy
i've been in my life yeah nutrition and
stuff hasn't even been like brought into
the um into the mix until the last
five six years
Yeah.
And CrossFit Games athletes are not the
paragons of health.
No.
Yeah,
they might look like they were carved out
of granite,
but believe me when I tell you, like,
their biomarkers are probably not
fantastic.
Yeah.
someone made the comment i can't remember
what i was watching but like if you
look at the old rich videos from maybe
it was froning four where they had the
pizza boxes and cereal boxes all over the
hotel room yeah and that's what they were
eating that that weekend and now you have
them with their tupperware containers with
their chicken and rice and the avocados
and the
froning's room hotel room looked like a
frat party had happened like pizza boxes
cereal and just laid about everywhere like
that's what it looked like it really
really did that's what he ate all weekend
when he actually ate because he also was
not eating so i don't i'm gonna go
down this road i don't know okay so
on the bay on the mayhem podcast
They're talking about how the media room
is like a frat house.
Yeah.
That they don't let housekeeping come in
because of all the rental equipment they
have and all the high-end equipment they
have and all that stuff.
Sure.
The hotel they got did not have
microwaves,
so they bought one at a local Target
so they could do stuff.
And Ben is talking about draining his
chicken in the sink.
Yeah.
And that everybody drains their chicken in
the sink.
And the more he kept calling it drain
the chicken,
the more the twelve-year-old me kept
losing my... I lost my mind.
And Scott Vandersloot is like,
do you really mean drain the chicken?
And he goes, yeah,
we all drain the chicken.
No, you didn't.
And he says,
and I guess they get chicken in a
bag and it
And he said something that went along with
it that, like, I totally busted a gut.
Yeah, I lost my mind completely.
Yes, Ortega,
that is not what you should call it.
Not at all.
Not even a little bit.
Oh, he said,
because they were talking about how dirty
the sink was.
They drained the chicken,
and then he said that Vander Sloot just
kept pumping lotion.
oh it's not lotion it's soap it's not
no no god no i wouldn't have made
it there's no way i had to turn
it off because i wouldn't have got
anything past that i just would have been
sitting there and that wasn't even the
funniest part of the podcast today because
ben fell at the games
And they called Darren Hunsaker,
and he's witnessed it,
and he describes it on the phone over
the microphone.
It is, I couldn't stop laughing.
Jesus Christ.
Darren, and I don't know you, obviously,
but every time I've seen him somewhere,
he seems like he is a kicking ass
to hang out with because.
So much fun.
Yeah, he looks like he's a whole lot.
when i work security volunteering at like
regionals and stuff he was a blast yeah
i bet i have no doubt and his
wife is a ball buster well yeah she
crack she cracks it and he comes running
he's like yes ma'am i'm here um but
yeah uh he's he's great the whole mayhem
team was awesome to hang out with uh
when i work security
Oh, I bet.
I have no doubt about that.
I talked to Garrett Glinton.
I think we have a time for the
sports show.
It appears so.
That we talked about yesterday.
Yay, sports.
Yay, sports.
Tuesdays at six p.m.
Eastern time.
What's worse,
draining the chicken or tasting the potato
rainbow?
FYI,
Dan Church texted me yesterday and said he
was particularly proud of tasting the
potato rainbow.
Well,
I have given him his flowers over the
last two days.
Yeah, well-deserved.
Well-deserved.
I mean, if I'm going to be honest,
both can be pleasurable.
Depending on what's going on.
Yeah.
Depending on what's going on.
Kind of a hard choice, Trent.
Yeah, it's really situational,
if I'm being completely honest.
It's definitely situational.
Oh, that's good shit.
I think that's it for today.
Nikki is submitting her resignation.
She has had just about enough of our
shit.
Yeah.
I have a feeling we're going to get
called into HR.
It's fine.
I'm actually the head of HR, so.
Oh, the community cup.
How much college football talk will there
be, I think it is.
I'm curious to know how soon I'll be
kicked out of the comment section on that
show.
I don't have anything against Michigan.
I mean,
if you want to follow a cheating,
adultery-ridden university,
that's up to you.
Um,
but I don't have a problem with them.
I'm not an Ohio state fan, Daniel.
No, he is not.
I just live in the hell that is
Ohio state.
And he just, yeah.
Uh,
Avera says my view on the community cup
has not changed.
Thank you.
But hard pass.
I like the concept of the community cup.
I just think it is an afterthought to
CrossFit.
And so why is it not going to
be an afterthought to everybody else?
If you need any more proof that it's
an afterthought to CrossFit,
it's after the games.
Like it's now.
No, thank you.
Also signing up for that.
Train says simultaneous.
Huh?
Taste the potato rainbow.
While draining the chicken.
There you go.
Corey is the assistant to the HR manager.
I can't tell you how much of a
fan I am of the office, but yeah,
I'll take that.
Daniel Arnson says,
tasting the potato rainbow would not have
happened without him.
Yeah,
it was your snack time that started the
whole fiasco that was yesterday.
Brought us to, yeah.
Oh, was that dude that commented on it?
Is that the guy you met at the
games who found out that I wasn't black?
I don't know.
I did not.
I do not.
No, no, no, no, no.
Yeah.
Um, he just probably heard the story.
He must've heard the story.
Okay.
Um, yeah, I think that's it.
We ended a little more professionally
today.
Well,
It's about as professional as we get,
let's be honest.
Oh, yeah.
Maybe.
Oh, yeah.
I know, Tega.
It was the imagine my surprise when I
found out.
Yeah, maybe we didn't end professionally.
Don't forget to get your shirts.
Still got a ton of them.
I think that's it.
They're super comfy.
The color is absolutely beautiful.
They fit well.
I probably will sign up for the qualifier
for Fittest of the Coast,
but I'm not actually going to South
Carolina.
With that, you know what?
It's time for you knuckleheads to get back
to work because I got to get back
to work too.
Take us out, Vicky.
You wouldn't wait to get to the editing
room to jazz me up.
I'm already jazzy.
Lunch with the Clydesdale Cowboy in the
saddle.
Lunch with the Clydesdale Cowboy in the
saddle.
Talking to reps,
